What is Spam?

Spam is basically electronic junk mail.

There are many people who constantly surf the internet "harvesting" e-mail addresses with the intention of sending the addresses dozens or even hundreds of unsolicited advertisement e-mails for all kinds of products and services in the hope some of the recipients will make a purchase so the sender can earn a commission on the sale.

It can be a time consuming and therefore expensive exercise to manully sort the legitimate e-mails from the junk or "spam" e-mail messages.

There are also more malicous users on the internet who also "harvest" e-mail addresses with the intention of flooding a company's e-mail inbox to capacity and effectively shutting down a companies e-mail capabilty.

This is why "Anti-Spam" protection is essential.

The contact e-mail addresses for JSR Webdesign are protected by powerful Anti-Spam software at hosting level and on the local machines.

This software will automatically identify and destroy all Spam e-mail messages before they reach the JSR Webdesign e-mail inboxes.

Occasionally this software will wrongly identify a legitimate e-mail message as a spam e-mail and automatically destroy it. This is most likely to happen if it is the first e-mail received from a particular address and the e-mail contains embedded or attached hyperlinks or images as this is a tactic often used by "Spammers".
